Liverpool have reached an agreement with Stuttgart midfielder Wataru Endo for a transfer in the coming days. The Premier League club will be paying a transfer fee in the region of €18 million. The club captain has asked to leave the Bundesliga and follow his dream of playing in the Premier League.
The club has made a very smart move in the transfer market after missing out on both Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. Both defensive midfielders have signed for Chelsea and even though they were linked with Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone earlier in the transfer window, they have now reached an agreement with one of the most underrated players in the Bundesliga.
Wataru Endo to sign for Liverpool from Stuttgart
Medical tests have already been scheduled for the player to complete his move. The club expects Endo to be available for their game this weekend against Bournemouth.
The Japanese midfielder will complete Liverpool’s rebuild of their midfield this summer, having already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai earlier in the window. They have also offloaded former captain Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, with both choosing to move to Saudi Arabia.
Wataru Endo ranks among the best in stats for defensive midfielders, and will be expected to play an important role in Jurgen Klopp’s system. The departure of Fabinho has left a gaping hole in the defensive midfield position, and Endo seems like a very shrewd buy to help them complete their midfield.
