The English Premier League club Liverpool is eyeing the 17-year-old Barcelona’s Spanish central midfielder Gavi.
While the young Gavi already made his international football debut for Spain national football team in 2021, he also made his senior club career debut in the 2021 summer. After joining Barcelona’s youth academy from Real Betis’ youth academy in the 2015 summer, he has grown up as a Barca talent.
Gavi had a busy 2021/22 season
In his very first season in his senior club career, Gavi appeared in 47 games, including 34 La Liga matches. Moreover, the central midfielder was mostly in the starting XI squad this season. In the 2021/22 season, he recorded two goals and six assists.
Surely, the youngster is growing up as a useful talent whose latest contract with Barca will end in June 2023. While he has already impressed many top European clubs, Blaugrana are certainly desperate to extend the contract with this talent.
The issue
However, recent media reports suggest that something is not going right between Gavi’s agent Ivan de la Pena and Barcelona at the present moment.
Recently, Sapnish daily sports newspaper Diario Sport reported that De la Pena is unhappy with Barcelona President Joan Laporta’s recent comment on the agent for hanging the contract negotiations by delaying their decisions. However, De la Pena has claimed that the club hasn’t set up a formal renewal proposal for the youngster yet.
Liverpool are set for an exciting offer
Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly getting ready to put an offer of almost £42 million (€50 million) for Gavi to match his release clause. The Reds are likely to offer a higher salary for the youngster than Barca’s present offer.
The other news regarding this
However, some media reports are also suggesting that the youngster is currently happy with his present club as he doesn’t want to leave the club immediately.
