Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest player ever, is most likely playing his last World Cup. He would definitely want to win the most coveted prize playing in his 5th World Cup. Argentina started the campaign with a loss against Saudi Arabia but won the next two matches and qualified for the Round of 16.

The PSG star showed his magic and helped Argentina beat Australia with his individual brilliance. It was his 1000th match and in that match he scored his 9th World Cup goal, surpassing Maradona. He is now one goal behind Gabriel Batistuta (10) as Argentina’s highest world cup scorer.  Everyone is hoping that the Argentine magician finishes his World Cup career with football’s highest prize in his hand.
