Lionel Messi’s future remains up in the air, amidst rumours that he is closer than ever to signing for Inter Miami. If the Argentine makes the move to the MLS, he would become the highest-paid player in the history of the league.

But there is nothing confirmed as of yet, as he continues to remain focused on the World Cup with Argentina. His entourage maintains that the final decision on his future will be made only after the tournament is done.

The veteran helped his country earn their first win at the 2022 World Cup, with a man of the match performance against Mexico. His current deal with Paris Saint-Germain runs out at the end of the season, and the French giants are interested in renewing his contract.

However, his former club, Barcelona, have also hinted at a return for their most iconic player of all-time. The club will have to sort out their finances and offload a number of players to make room for Messi, if he wishes to return.

On the other hand, Inter Miami will be a brand new challenge for Lionel Messi. He already has a house in the city, which would help in relocation. But, that would also mean that he no longer competes at the top level.
