In 2019, AMD pulled the total desktop CPU market to itself with the Ryzen 3000 CPUs and in 2020, the Renoir APUs for mobile have totally changed the game. The new AMD Ryzen 4000H gaming processors are totally destroying Intel flagships at lower prices and that’s why Intel seems to be slashing its Comet Lake-H CPU prices to remain in the competition.
According to ITHome, a third-party marketer associated with Lenovo did actually claim that Intel “cannot keep up in the short term” with AMD. As the Ryzen 7 4800H is widely available across laptops with a price range of around $1000, Intel is having a hard time to catch up with the 8 core APU.
Intel’s 6-core Core i7-10750H cannot even match the 4800H and so the competition is against the 8-core Core i7-10875H, so Lenovo slashed the prices of Y7000P with Comet Lake Core i7-10875H from 8799 Yuan to just 8299 Yuan. Lenovo even went on to say that the 8-core Core i7-10875H will be available on a wider range of Lenovo laptops and also their pricing will be reduced.
So, at around $1,172.65, the laptop is still decent as it features 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD along with RTX 2060 and a 144Hz display. However, ITHome also points out that when originally the laptop was launched in May with Core i7-10750H and 1TB SSD, it was priced at 8699 Yuan and now you get 8-core option even at a lower price, this shows how Intel is worried of AMD this time.
It is also great to see the Lenovo officials pointing out the reason for the price slash and actually explaining Intel’s take on AMD currently.
