Lenovo’s much anticipated 5G laptop running on Windows 10 makes its way to the market. It has been launched in the US with the name of Lenovo Flex 5G whereas in other countries it will be known as the Lenovo Yoga 5G. The laptop will be made available in the other markets including the UK, Switzerland, and China later this year through EE in the UK, Sunrise in Switzerland, and CMCC in China.Â
This is a Qualcomm 8cx powered laptop which is 7nm based 64-bit CPU architecture laptop octa-core chip with 4 Cortex A76 cores and 4 Cortex A55 cores. It is a 2-in-1 laptop which has a 360-degree hinge to help use it in varied modes and it runs on Windows 10 Pro and Lenovo promises battery life to last for up to 24 hours.
The Yoga Flex 5G sports a 14-inch FHD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS touchscreen display with 400 nits of peak brightness and 16:9 aspect ratio. It will also offer a UHD display option in a few markets with 2160×3840 pixels resolution. Being a 5G laptop, it uses Qualcomm’s 5G modem that supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G which is launching with Verizon’s 5G network.
The 8cx chip is quite powerful with up to 2.84 GHz clock speed and is paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAMÂ and UFS 3.0 storage of up to 512GB. Talking about the GPU, it comes with Qualcomm’s Adreno 680 Extreme GPU which is touted to be twice as fast as we have seen with the Snapdragon 850 powered Windows laptops.
It features an HD 720p web camera with ThinkShutter privacy cover for security along with an additional IR camera. It also supports a fingerprint reader for faster unlocks along with two front-firing speakers with Dolby Atmos support. It supports Bluetooth v5.0, features 2 USB Type-C (Gen 3.1) ports, one SIM card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The laptop comes in only a single Iron Grey colour option.
There’s a unique toggle option on the side that lets you switch between Wi-Fi and Airplane mode instantly. The laptop comes with dimensions of 320 mm x 215mm x 14.75 mm and weighs just 1.3 kg. The Lenovo Flex 5G packs 60Whr battery that offers up to 24 hours of local video playback but not when its connected to 5G which can drain a lot of battery.
The Lenovo Flex 5G is already up for preorders from Verizon for either $1,399.99 or you can opt for EMI – $58.33 per month for 24 months through Verizon’s Device Payment program. With a new Lenovo Flex 5G purchase, you’ll also get one year of Microsoft 365 service for free.
