Leicester City transfer news: In an official statement, the club has confirmed that seven players will be leaving the club upon the expiry of their contracts at the end of the month. As expected, Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncu are among the names to be included. All seven players are now available as free agents and can sign for a club of their choosing.

Here is the official statement released by Leicester:

“Youri Tielemans, Çağlar Söyüncü, Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy, Ryan Bertrand, Ayoze Pérez and Tetê will all bring their spells at King Power Stadium to an end (at the end of June when their deals expire).

“The Club remains in discussions with captain Jonny Evans with regard to his future beyond the expiration of his current deal this month, while an option has been exercised to extend the contract of midfielder Hamza Choudhury to June 2024.”

Leicester City transfer news: What do we know so far

Caglar Soyuncu will be signing for Atletico Madrid in the coming days, as confirmed by Diego Simeone himself. The Turkish defender will be a great addition to the gritty and aggresive style of play that El Cholo specialises in. He has already signed the contract and will be unveiled as a new signing for the Rojiblancos very soon.

Arsenal are one of the clubs linked with the signature of Youri Tielemans. However, they haven’t been able to reach an agreement with him. There are several other clubs also keeping tabs on the Belgian, but he is yet to make a final decision on his future.

The remainder of the players are all available on the market and will be looking for new clubs as things stand. Club captain Johnny Evans has a chance to stay at the club, and is in talks over a renewal, but nothing is certain at this point.

The shocking drop to the Championship has complicated matters for Leicester City. And in this situation, many players could leave to play Premier League football this season.

Leicester City transfer news: No word on Maddison

James Maddison is expected to be on the move this summer, with the England international putting up remarkable performances in the 22/23 season. However, the midfielder was unfortunate to have been relegated with the Foxes. Regardless of the outcome of their season, the expectation was that he would be leaving in the summer.

Leicester City have refused to comment on the situation of the midfielder right now. And we can only expect that offers will eventually arrive, which will make up the bulk of Leicester City transfer news this summer. Tottenham are only one of the clubs keeping tabs on him, and the likes of Aston Villa could also pounce on the opportunity.

On the other hand, the futures of Jamie Vardy, Harvey Barnes, Khelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka and several other top players remain uncertain for the time being. It will be interesting to see whether the players stick it out in the Championship and try to return to the Premier League or seek transfers elsewhere right away.
