Leicester City’s talks with Jesse Marsch over joining as the new head coach have collapsed. And as per Fabrizio Romano, the deal is now off with the American’s demands not being met fully.
The two parties were unable to reach an agreement on some important factors, which caused the deal to collapse. As a result, the club is looking at other options to take over the first team. Marsch was previously linked with the Southampton job, which also collapsed after talks.
Jesse Marsch will not become new Leicester City manager
Rafa Benitez was one of the names that came up in internal discussions to take over the senior team. There were negotiations with the former Everton manager to make the move to the King Power Stadium. However, it now seems that Leicester City are leaning towards former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith.
The two parties are in the final stages of talks, and are working to sort out the final details. Craig Shakespeare is expected to be a part of the backroom staff as he is familiar with the club, and he will join Smith if a full agreement is in place.
Smith earned a lot of praise for his work with Aston Villa before he was eventually replaced by Steven Gerrard. He has been out of a job ever since, but could now make a return to the dugout to save Leicester’s season.
