Leeds United are set to appoint Sam Allardyce in a last-ditch effort to stay in the Premier League. The Yorkshire club have given Javi Garcia his marching orders, after only two-and-a-half months in charge. Garcia replaced Jesse Marsch, who the club parted ways with on the back of some very disappointing results.
And now, they are at risk of being relegated back to the Championship once again. Big Sam will reportedly take charge of training ahead of Leeds’ game against Manchester City, in an attempt to somehow save them from the drop.
Sam Allardyce to be appointed as new Leeds United manager
The 68-year-old has earned a reputation for being appointed at the tail-end of seasons to try and save clubs from relegation in the Premier League. And Leeds have become the latest club to turn to him to salvage their season.
Sam Allardyce will be in charge for only four games, with City, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Tottenham to play. During this time, he will be earning £500,000 with a bonus worth £2.5 million available if he can avoid relegation.
Leeds are currently out of the relegation zone only on goal difference, with eight goals between them and Nottingham Forest, who are also on 30 points. The club has also parted ways with director Victor Orta, on the back of the disappointing season so far as confirmed in an official club statement.
