It’s been eight years since acclaimed director Lee Chang-dong released a film, and the wait is finally almost over. “Possible Love” now has an official Netflix release date, and the star power behind it alone makes this one of the year’s most anticipated Korean drops.

Netflix has confirmed the film will hit the platform globally on November 6, 2026 — but not before making the festival rounds first. “Possible Love” will world-premiere at the Venice Film Festival, cross over to Toronto for its North American premiere, and even get a limited theatrical release on October 23, 2026, before finally landing on streaming.

The story follows two married couples — a laid-off worker and his wife, and a documentary filmmaker and her husband — whose lives collide when the filmmaker decides to turn her camera on them, exposing the hidden desires and fractures beneath both marriages.

Lee Chang-dong is a South Korean film director, screenwriter, and novelist who has directed six feature films, including Poetry, Secret Sunshine, and Burning, the latter becoming the first Korean film to reach the Academy Awards’ final nine-film shortlist for Best Foreign Language Film. That pedigree alone has critics already circling “Possible Love” as a strong awards contender.

The ensemble cast adds even more weight — Jeon Do-yeon and Sul Kyung-gu bring proven Netflix track records, while Cho Yeo-jeong (of “Parasite” fame) rounds out a lineup built for prestige drama. Filming wrapped after starting in August 2025, with the film spending months in post-production since.
