Lady Gaga and Doechii Team Up for ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Soundtrack ‘Runway’

The soundtrack to The Devil Wears Prada 2 just got a major upgrade. Lady Gaga and rising rapper Doechii have collaborated on an exclusive track called “Runway,” marking one of the most unexpected artist pairings for the film’s musical backdrop. The song drops this summer alongside the movie, blending Gaga’s theatrical pop sensibility with Doechii’s sharp, rhythmic delivery—a combination that’s already generating serious buzz in entertainment circles.

How the Soundtrack Collaboration Came Together

The soundtrack partnership wasn’t random. Director David Frankel wanted a track that captured the film’s core tension—the clash between high fashion ambition and raw authenticity.

Lady Gaga brings serious star power and credibility to the project. She’s no stranger to fashion-forward narratives (she literally wore a meat dress to the MTV VMAs). Doechii represents a new generation of artists reshaping hip-hop’s relationship with style and confidence. Together, they’ve created something that feels both timeless and urgently contemporary.

The production team engineered the track to hit emotional beats during key fashion sequences. Think runway shows, boardroom drama, and those quiet moments where ambition meets reality.

What ‘Runway’ Brings to the Soundtrack

“Runway” is a 3-minute-47-second powerhouse that sits right at the intersection of pop and rap. Lady Gaga’s vocals soar over minimalist production before Doechii enters with a verse that’s equal parts boastful and vulnerable.

What makes this work? The track doesn’t oversell itself. Both artists get space to breathe, which is rare in big-budget film collaborations.

The song hits all major streaming platforms the day the film releases. A behind-the-scenes making-of video drops a week before, showing how the track was actually recorded in the studio. Fans who’ve followed our coverage of similar projects will appreciate the intimate studio footage.

Why This Soundtrack Matters for Fashion Films

Here’s what most coverage missed: this collaboration signals a real shift in how studios approach film music. Instead of hiring a composer to write original orchestral pieces, Devil Wears Prada 2 is betting on artist collaborations that double as marketing moments.

It’s smart strategy. The song gets radio play, TikTok clips, and organic social buzz without traditional marketing spend.

The partnership also positions Doechii as a crossover artist, not just a rapper. Working alongside a global icon like Gaga elevates her profile in ways that chart success alone can’t. For Lady Gaga, it’s a reminder that she’s still culturally relevant in spaces beyond traditional pop music. Both artists win. The film wins.

This approach mirrors what worked for Barbie—letting the music and the film feed each other’s momentum rather than treating them as separate entities (according to VentureBeat AI).
