Indian smartphone brand Lava is preparing to launch two new budget-friendly smartphones in the country, named Lava Storm Play and Lava Storm Lite. These upcoming devices are expected to deliver striking designs, reliable performance, and 5G connectivity.
The Lava Storm Play will be the most interesting of the trio as it not only will be the first 5G smartphone from Lava in India to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7060 SoC, which is a slight upgrade over the Dimensity 6080 found inside last year’s Lava Storm 5G. The phones can both be purchased online through Amazon and Lava E-store.

Lava Storm Play to Launch in India with MediaTek Dimensity 7060 SoC, Storm Lite Also Expected Under ₹15,000
The Lava Storm Play is also tipped to pack the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 SoC, which is a new chip that has just been announced by the brand and was earlier launched on the Moto G56. This chipset is, as of now, not available outside the European market. It is an octa-core processor built on a 6nm process, clocked at up to 2.6GHz, and integrated with the IMG BXM-8-256 GPU. Given the naming convention, it’s expected to be the successor to the MediaTek 7050, which powered several 2024 devices like the Realme P1, Realme Narzo 70 Pro, and OPPO F27 Pro+.
Lava claims that the Storm Play will also support LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage standards, allowing for faster multitasking, quicker app launches, and an improved gaming experience in the budget smartphone category. The brand is targeting younger users looking for an affordable yet powerful gaming phone with 5G support and modern design cues. While details about the Lava Storm Lite remain under wraps, the name suggests it will be a toned-down variant of the Storm Play.
It is expected to offer a different processor while maintaining the 5G capability and bold styling. Lava hasn’t announced the pricing yet, but considering the Lava Storm 5G launched at ₹13,499, both Storm Play and Storm Lite are expected to be priced under ₹15,000. The company will reveal the sale dates at launch.
