Steam’s latest hardware survey for December 2020 seems to be a bit confusing as it records AMD losing over 7% in just a month. The comparison of the survey home page doesn’t seem real.
It makes no sense that in a single month Intel growing to 81% and AMD falling to 19%. A 1-2% max is generally recorded each month, however, in this case, its a whopping 7.91%.
This is unusual as the momentum for the last couple of months has been on AMD’s side and with Ryzen 5000 series, the scenario couldn’t be what Steam is suggesting. Now, when the chart is expanded, we see Intel gaining only 2.18% share with Windows while AMD gained only 0.37% on Linux.
Still, the figures do not add up as almost 8% gain in a month is absolutely bizarre. AMD has been gaining each month and even November’s data showed that too. Obviously, this seems to be an issue with the reading and Steam should fix this in the coming days.
