The Willow Street campus went into lockdown on Thursday following reports of a potential active shooter. The incident sparked immediate concern, with West Lampeter Township police rushing to the scene, guns drawn, to search the school while students remained in their classrooms. Thankfully, no threat was found, no injuries occurred, and students were safely dismissed early.

Lancaster county ctc willow street: Origin of the Threat

The lockdown was initiated after police received a call about a possible threat at the school. According to authorities, the call came from a relative of a student who had learned about a vague threat circulating on social media over the past few weeks. Police believe the call was made out of genuine concern for the students’ safety, with no malicious intent on the part of the caller.

While the nature of the threat was unclear, the school and police acted swiftly to ensure the safety of everyone on campus.

Police Search and Student Safety

During the lockdown, police officers searched the school thoroughly but found no evidence of a threat. Students were kept inside their classrooms as officers swept the building. After determining that the school was safe, students were dismissed early, bringing relief to anxious parents waiting for news.

Parental Concerns and Communication

Parents were understandably concerned during the incident, with many receiving calls and texts from their children. Erin Zimmerman, a parent whose son was inside the school during the lockdown, shared her experience with the media. “He just sent me a text message a little while ago, saying that there was a serious threat and that the school was on lockdown,” Zimmerman said. She described how the students were asked to exit the building with their hands up, adding to the tension of the situation.

Another parent recalled her daughter calling her around 9:30 a.m. “She called me from the classroom. I couldn’t understand much, but I heard the lockdown announcement over the school system,” the parent said. While the initial uncertainty was frightening, parents were later informed that their children were safe, with a paramedic confirming their well-being.

Moving Forward

Though the threat turned out to be unfounded, the swift response of school officials and law enforcement ensured the safety of all students. Authorities continue to investigate the vague social media threat and are working to prevent similar situations in the future.
