Surprising Lack of User Adoption: AI Chatbots ChatGPT and Bard Remain Underutilized, Reveals Morgan Stanley Survey

Contrary to what many may believe, a recent survey conducted by Morgan Stanley indicates that the adoption of AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT and Bard, is surprisingly low among users. The study, which involved 2,000 participants in April of this year, aimed to explore the acceptance of AI tools and people’s willingness to use emerging technologies like ChatGPT and Bard.

The survey revealed that only 19% of the respondents claimed to have used ChatGPT, while a mere 9% reported utilizing the Google Bard chatbot. Furthermore, the poll highlighted that a significant majority of non-users expressed their lack of interest in employing AI chatbots within the next six months.

The analysts at Morgan Stanley, who conducted the survey, emphasized that the limited engagement with chatbots could be attributed to the early stages of development for these AI tools. It suggests that users are primarily interested in leveraging AI to expand their knowledge and explore various topics. Notably, early adopters of AI technology commonly employ chatbots for tasks such as researching new products, price comparisons, and online shopping.

This highlights the potential of AI as a valuable tool in the e-commerce sector, presenting companies with revenue-boosting opportunities. However, the study clarifies that despite these advancements, a majority of individuals (56%) still initially turn to simpler and more widely used search engines like Google Search for money-related activities, including online shopping and travel arrangements.

The analysts believe that as AI chatbots continue to evolve and mature, their appeal and utility may increase among users seeking knowledge and convenience.
