Kylian Mbappé Signs With On: Inside the Deal That Ended a 20-Year Nike Partnership

Football’s sportswear landscape just shifted dramatically. Kylian Mbappé has officially ended his nearly two-decade relationship with Nike to sign with Swiss brand On, marking one of the biggest boot deals in the sport’s history.

How On Won the Race

The Real Madrid superstar’s new deal reportedly includes an equity stake in On, alongside performance bonuses tied to major trophies — giving Mbappé genuine ownership in the brand’s future rather than a standard sponsorship arrangement. According to French outlet L’Équipe, the partnership is believed to run for 10 years, long-term enough that Mbappé could feasibly finish his career in On boots.

Thierry Henry’s Behind-the-Scenes Role

A key figure in sealing the deal was Thierry Henry, who has been quietly working with On since late 2025 and now joins as the company’s Director of Football. Henry’s involvement and connection to Kylian Mbappé are widely credited with helping convince the France captain to make the switch.

What Comes Next

Kylian Mbappé is expected to debut his new boots in the coming weeks and will also feature in them within EA FC 27. Reports suggest he has already been testing whiteout prototypes during Real Madrid training sessions, deliberately away from photographers, ahead of the official rollout.

Kylian Mbappé Signs With On: Why This Matters

Mbappé’s exit is another blow for Nike, which recently lost Barcelona star Lamine Yamal to Adidas. For On, it’s a landmark signing as the Swiss brand — co-owned by tennis legend Roger Federer — makes its first major push into football.
