After it was revealed that Kurt Zouma was under investigation for animal cruelty, the verdict has been announced. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals have seized the footballer’s two cats.
He has also been hit with the maximum fines for the offense, which is projected at £250,000, close to two weeks’ salary for the player. West Ham have announced that the fine will be donated to animal charities as compensation for the offense.

“The two cats are now in RSPCA care. Our priority is and has always been the wellbeing of these cats,” stated a spokesperson. “They’ve been taken for a check-up at a vets and then will remain in our care while the investigation continues.”
It was revealed that the RSPCA will be investigating the situation over the last few days, and they intend to carry out the inquiry even though the Met Police have decided not to do anything.
Despite a general feeling that the Frenchman would be dropped from the team for West Ham United’s game against Watford in the Premier League, he ended up making the starting line-up. David Moyes defended his selection of Kurt Zouma in the post-match interview, after he contributed to their clean sheet.
“I am a big animal lover and someone who cares a lot about my dogs and horses but the club are on that side of it and I’ll look after the football side,” he told BT Sport. “He’s one of our better players.”
