Konrad Laimer has signed a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich to join them at the end of the season as a free agent. The midfielder’s current deal with RB Leipzig expires in the summer, and he has now decided his next destination.
Laimer follows his former teammates Marcel Sabitzer, Dayot Upamecano and head coach Julian Nagelsmann, all of whom have made the switch to Bayern Munich from Leipzig.
Konrad Laimer signs contract with Bayern Munich
The Bundesliga champions were keen on signing Konrad Laimer in the summer of 2022. But, they were unable to reach an agreement with Leipzig for his signature. As a result, they have waited and have decided to go for him on a free transfer.
Laimer has been very influential to the success of Leipzig over the last few years. And his arrival will provide backup to the Bavarians for Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich.
An official statement confirming the move can be expected within this month, but there is no certainty that it will be announced right now.
Bayern Munich have also signed Yann Sommer as the replacement goalkeeper for their captain, Manuel Neuer. The Germany international has been ruled out for a long time due to a leg injury he sustained while on a skiing trip. As a result, the Borussia Monchengladbach captain has made a highly anticipated transfer to the Reds, and has signed a deal until 2025.
