What happens when a charming man marries into wealth — and then slowly disappears inside it? Kim Jun Han’s newest role in Mad Concrete Dreams explores exactly that tension, and from what he’s shared, it sounds like one of the most psychologically layered characters of the 2026 K-drama season.

🎬 Kim Jun Han on Min Hwal Seong — In His Own Words

Kim Jun Han was unusually candid about why this role grabbed him. Min Hwal Seong is not an easy character to categorise — he’s handsome, persuasive, and completely rationalises his own worst decisions. He married into a wealthy family, bringing nothing but charm, and slowly became a ghost in his own home after investment after investment collapsed. His desperation to prove his worth to his wife and mother-in-law pushes him toward choices that look reasonable to him — and unhinged to everyone watching.

“Min Hwal Seong is someone who lives by a very unique set of standards. While his choices seem justified to him, they come across as shocking and fascinating to an outside observer.”— Kim Jun Han on playing Min Hwal Seong, via Soompi interview (March 2026)

What drew him to the project? A script written by a novelist making their screenwriting debut — which Kim Jun Han says gave the story unpredictable turns and genuinely surprising character choices. He also cited the chance to work with director Im Pil Sung and, particularly, the experience of watching Ha Jung Woo lead a production with the kind of quiet authority that teaches you something every day on set.

The friendship at the show’s core is equally loaded. Ki Soo Jong — Ha Jung Woo’s character — is teetering on the edge of losing his building to debt when Min Hwal Seong makes him an offer. What that proposal actually is becomes the engine of the entire thriller. Kim Jun Han describes the relationship between the two men as one where Sobin has become a completely natural, permanent part of his world — which makes the betrayal of that trust all the more devastating.
