What’s the Story About?
The film follows Kali Dasa (KD), a carefree and uneducated young man with a cheerful spirit and unwavering loyalty toward his family. Constantly looked down upon by his elder brother Dharma, Kali grows up idolising Dhak Deva — a dreaded don feared by even the police. His life takes a joyful turn when he falls in love with Macchu Lakshmi, a bold and outspoken young woman, but their romance soon drags him into a dangerous web of betrayal after a chain of misunderstandings places his family in the crosshairs of Dhak Deva, played by Sanjay Dutt himself.
As KD uncovers shocking truths tied to Annayyappa and Deva’s partner Satyavati, he realises the man he once worshipped may be responsible for destroying countless innocent lives — forcing the once carefree youngster to transform into an unlikely warrior fighting against his own idol.
It’s the classic good-versus-idol story, and with Sanjay Dutt as the villain, you know the screen presence is going to be electric. For more context on how Kannada cinema has grown in recent years, Wikipedia’s overview of Kannada cinema is worth a quick read.
Star-Studded Cast & Crew
Apart from Dhruva Sarja and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles, the film also features Shilpa Shetty Kundra, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, Jisshu Sengupta, P. Ravi Shankar, and several others in key roles. The movie also includes cameo appearances by Kichcha Sudeepa and Nora Fatehi. Music and background score are composed by Arjun Janya, with William David handling the cinematography.
That’s a stacked ensemble — especially with Kichcha Sudeepa’s cameo, which the Sandalwood fanbase has been buzzing about.
