Karavali Twitter Review: Should You Book Your Tickets This Weekend?

Kannada cinema has a new contender in theatres, and Twitter isn’t holding back its opinions. Karavali, starring Prajwal Devaraj and Raj B. Shetty, hit screens on 24 July 2026, and early reactions are a genuine mixed bag — equal parts praise and frustration, which honestly makes it more intriguing to unpack.

What’s Karavali About?

The film leans on Kambala, coastal Karnataka’s traditional buffalo race, as its emotional and cultural core. The story follows Dhananjaya, a gentle cattle breeder whose world is upended when his beloved cow Bhoomi is stolen. His search leads him to Karavali, where he crosses paths with Mahabala and helps end a three-decade-long monopoly over the local Kambala race — sparking a fierce, multigenerational rivalry that plays out across timelines.

On Twitter, reactions have been split right down the middle. Several viewers praised the cinematography, background score, and casting choices, but felt the film stumbled on storytelling and execution. Others were far more enthusiastic, calling the narrative gripping from start to finish and specifically applauding director Gurudath’s handling of the material alongside strong performances from Mithra and Raj B. Shetty. A third camp landed somewhere in between — appreciating Abhimanyu Sadanandan’s cinematography and Mithra’s portrayal of Mahabala, while criticising uneven pacing and songs that slowed the momentum. Even the more critical voices agreed the film has real potential and is still worth a theatre watch.
