How It All Unfolded — From Banter to Legal Notice

It began innocuously. Vanshaj Singh and Archana Gautam were joking around when Vanshaj casually mentioned he hadn’t really noticed Archana on the show. Ridhima Pandit, seated nearby, took issue with the dismissive tone and stepped in to remind him of Archana’s seniority and experience in the industry.

What followed was swift and ugly. The disagreement escalated into a full-blown confrontation in front of the entire house. Vanshaj — feeling unfairly targeted — retaliated by calling Ridhima an “aunty,” a remark she described as deliberate age shaming. Ridhima later stated that the remark amounted to age shaming and expressed her displeasure over personal comments being dragged into the argument.

Karan Patel stepped in — but not calmly. He threatened to throw Vanshaj out of the house physically, a moment that left contestants visibly shaken. In the heat of the moment, Karan himself ended up using abusive language toward the influencer, following which he later approached Vanshaj and apologised, explaining that his reaction stemmed from the intensity of the situation.

Before the episode even aired, Vanshaj took to Instagram stories to publicly call out Ridhima, urging followers to ask her to unblock him and promising to expose her on social media. In one story he directly wrote that Ridhima had crossed a line she thought would have no repercussion “because I am just another child” — and that he would not forgive what she said.

The posts intensified public debate significantly. Many viewers sided with Ridhima, pointing to the age-shaming as categorically unacceptable. Others argued the conflict escalated on multiple sides and that Karan’s own language was equally problematic.

Prince Narula later confronted Vanshaj in front of the house after being shown footage of Vanshaj discussing him outside the show — another public pile-on that left Vanshaj increasingly isolated. Rajat Dalal stepped in to calmly explain how Vanshaj’s words may have been perceived, following which Vanshaj returned inside and apologised to everyone in the house.

Why This Matters Beyond the Show

Ridhima Pandit has since been evicted from The 50 — reportedly betrayed by her own alliance led by Prince Narula, who steered votes away from her at a crucial moment. Yet her decision to pursue legal action post-eviction signals that for her, this was never just a game strategy. The age-shaming comments crossed a line she was unwilling to let pass without consequence.

The 50 is based on the French format Les Cinquante and brought to India by Banijay Asia. It is one of the most psychologically intense reality competitions on Indian television — and moments like this prove it. Learn more about the show’s origins on the official Wikipedia page for Les Cinquante.
