India’s Biggest Multiplex Chain Just Locked In Dhurandhar 2 — The Eid 2026 Box Office War Has Begun

When the country’s largest multiplex chain signs on to distribute your film across four major Indian territories, that’s not just a business deal — it’s a statement of confidence. And that’s exactly what just happened with Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, as PVR INOX officially locked in its distribution agreement with Jio Studios for the Ranveer Singh spy actioner, confirming one of the most high-stakes box office clashes of 2026.

Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge — Film & Distribution At a Glance

Why This Distribution Deal Matters

PVR INOX previously distributed Dhurandhar Part 1 across these same territories — plus Rajasthan. The fact that they’ve renewed their association for the sequel, covering Central Provinces & Berar, Central India, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, signals continued belief in the franchise’s commercial pull. For a film riding on the legacy of the highest-grossing Hindi film in Indian box office history (₹787 crore lifetime), the stakes couldn’t be higher.

What makes the sequel even more strategically interesting is the addition of Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions — something Part 1 didn’t have. For those who may not know, even without dubbed versions, Dhurandhar 1 still posted respectable numbers in the south. The new language versions are expected to meaningfully amplify collections in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, exactly the territories PVR INOX is now covering.

The Eid Clash Everyone’s Talking About

Releasing on March 19, 2026, Dhurandhar 2 lands squarely on the Eid weekend — traditionally one of Hindi cinema’s highest-grossing periods. But it won’t have the weekend to itself. Pan-India star Yash‘s gangster action drama Toxic drops on the same date, setting up one of the most anticipated box office face-offs of the year.

According to Wikipedia’s PVR INOX page, the multiplex chain operates over 1,700 screens across India, making them the country’s largest cinema exhibition company — so their distribution backing alone translates to massive guaranteed footprint for any film they back.

Can the Sequel Match the Original?

Dhurandhar 1 didn’t just succeed — it rewrote history. Crossing ₹787 crore at the Indian box office, it remains the all-time highest-grossing Hindi film domestically. The sequel has Aditya Dhar back in the director’s chair, Ranveer Singh returning in peak form, and now a far wider south India distribution strategy. The bar is sky-high, but the pieces are firmly in place.
