Jurgen Klopp has revealed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season in a shocking announcement, resulting in the end of a nine-year spell with the Reds. Alongside him, his assistants Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz and development coach Vitor Matos will also leave the club in the summer, letting the club embark on a fresh new chapter.

Klopp helped Liverpool win their first Premier League title in 30 years, and also guided them to the 2019 Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA World Cup titles. His final two trophies include the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, completing the trophy haul in English football as the manager of Liverpool.

“I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it,” the German said.

“I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.”

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.”

Jurgen Klopp also revealed that he won’t be managing a club or country for at least another year. He also confirmed that he would not manage another club in England ever again, closing the doors on another spell in England.

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has been named as one of the possible replacements for Klopp. But, an official announcement will be made on his replacement by the summer.
