Joao Cancelo has opened up on his exit from Manchester City to sign for Barcelona this summer. The player spent the latter half of last season on loan at Bayern Munich, which included a €70 million buy option.
In spite of performing well, the German side didn’t opt to sign him permanently citing a significantly high price tag. And as a result, he won both the Premier League and the Bundesliga winner’s medals at the end of the season.
Joao Cancelo opens up on Manchester City exit
“There were fake stories about me at City. I’ve never been a bad teammate”.“I remember once I was robbed and assaulted at home and the next day I was playing at Emirates against Arsenal…”.
“These are things you don’t forget, I left my wife and daughter alone at home still scared, in shock, to play for City”.
“At City they were a bit ungrateful to talk about me like this, I’ve been an important player for them”, Cancelo said.
“I’ve never felt better than any other teammate, but it’s the manager’s opinion…”. “People remember this because Guardiola has much more strength than me when he says something… I prefer to know that I’m telling the truth. I never lied”, he told A Bola.
Now, it seems certain that Joao Cancelo will stay at Barcelona next season. The defender has been playing very well for the Culers, and club president Joan Laporta has also indicated that he will be staying on loan for another season. And now, it’s only a matter of time before his loan is renewed.
