We all are well aware of the deal between Jio and Google that is signed on Reliance AGM this year. Google invested INR 33,737 crores to the Jio platform for a 7.7% stake. After the deal, Mukesh Ambani announced that his company is closely working with Google, along with other giants to bring high quality though most affordable 4G smartphone exclusively for Indians.
According to the earlier reports, the launch was scheduled for this December. But now, somehow, the launch might be delayed for another three months. The source known to this matter informed 91Mobiles that the upcoming Jio Phone powered by Android is not going to launch this month as the model doesn’t complete the testing phase yet.
Not only 4G smartphone, but Reliance is also tying its waist to drop 5G smartphone. Mukesh Ambani had said in the last AGM, “We believe we can design an entry-level 4G or even 5G smartphone for a fraction of its current cost. To power such a value-engineered smartphone, we also need an equally value-engineered operating system, and such an operating system must be designed from grounds-up,”
