JioCinema Premium has restructured its service delivery to facilitate a new monthly subscription offered to its Indian users. An initiative by the Viacom18-owned streaming platform, JioCinema Premium’s new service offering avails the convenience of exploring a vast film and series library with no interruptions occasioned by advertising while retaining the subscriber’s right to pay monthly.

Subscribers are at liberty to enjoy a wide variety of content from recognized movie production companies, such as HBO, Paramount, Peacock, and Warner Bros, with an option to download preferred films and series and view them offline and stream content in up to 4K.

There are two subscription plans available for the users – the individual is priced at ₹29 monthly and allows streaming on one screen and the family one which costs ₹89 per month and can be streamed on four screens. However, these prices are referred to as “special introductory pricing,” and it is clear that they are likely to change. Some sources claim that the plan prices are likely to increase to ₹59 monthly for the individual and ₹149 per month for the family.

JioCinema Premium was formerly only available through an annual subscription at ₹999, but JioCinema Premium’s website now says, “Annual Subscription Option Has Stopped.” However, despite this fact, the monthly subscription at the initial pricing is more attractive, as it costs effectively ₹348 annually for the individual and ₹1,068 for the family.

In terms of affordability, JioCinema Premium stands out among its competitors. The platform’s rates undercut those of major streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Amazon Prime Video in India. While Netflix‘s cheapest plan starts at ₹149 per month, both Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video charge ₹299 monthly.

Moreover, both the individual and family plan on JioCinema Premium promises ad-free streaming experiences, except for live and sports content, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite this, sports content remains accessible for free, albeit with advertisements, for subscribers of either JioCinema Premium plan.
