Tenerife Striker Jesús de Miguel Dies Aged 30 After Collision With Andorra Goalkeeper

Tenerife have confirmed that striker Jesús de Miguel has died at the age of 30. He suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest after a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during the LaLiga Hypermotion match between the two sides on Monday, 2 November 2026. The club announced that he died at 8am on Tuesday, 3 November, at the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The club described the loss as heartbreaking, saying there were no words to ease the sorrow felt by his family, his teammates and the wider Tenerife community.

What Happened on the Pitch

The match, which was tied 2-2, was stopped in added time after the collision near the halfway line. Owono had rushed out of his area to challenge for a long ball that De Miguel was chasing, and the two players collided with force. Owono was shown a straight red card.

De Miguel was left unconscious, and both sets of players called for medical help. Medics restored his pulse in the ambulance, but his condition later worsened neurologically. The match was abandoned after the incident.
