Manchester City have reached an agreement with Rennes for the signing of Jeremy Doku. The Belgian will make the move for a significant fee worth €60 million, including add-ons. He will be completing the medical tests for the transfer soon, and has already agreed personal terms over a long-term contract with the treble winners.

Doku is expected to be the replacement for Riyad Mahrez, after the Algerian left to sign for Al Ahli. City also had Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise on their list, but he extended his contract with the Eagles after Chelsea decided to activate his release clause.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the payment terms are very favourable for Manchester City, since they will pay the amount in instalments. Jeremy Doku will be competing with Cole Palmer for game time on the right flank, with the City academy graduate also expected to be a part of the team’s project.

There were rumours that he might leave the club over lack of regular playing time. But, no concrete decision has been made over his future as of yet.

The 21-year-old has been with Rennes since 2020, following his move from Anderlecht. Over three years, he has made 92 appearances, scoring 12 goals and assisting 10.

Manchester City are expected to announce his arrival in the coming week, once the formalities have been completed to seal the transfer. Doku isn’t the most physically imposing wide player, but has made a name for himself with his technical ability and pace, and could be an interesting new addition for the Sky Blues.
