Jasprit Bumrah won’t be a part of the Indian squad, since he got back pain during the practice and was pulled out of the training routine. His absence can prove to be a huge blow for the men in blue. He will miss the training for the next 4-6 months after being affected by a back stress fracture.
Bumrah couldn’t play the first T20I series against South Africa due to injury. He returned in the last series that India played against Australia but now he will be going through intense rehabilitation and submit the report to the NCA in a few weeks. Currently, the cricketer is in Bengaluru, to undergo scans. Besides him, Ravindra Jadeja also underwent a knee surgery.
“It’s concerning. But we haven’t had a full medical report on Jasprit yet. As soon as he complained of back pain, he was taken off practice. The medical team is monitoring him. Back injuries are tricky and we do not want to rush his return. The doctors will take a call on what will be his recovery period,” – A BCCI official told
Previously, Bumrah was ruled out of the West Indies series and Asia Cup due to the back injury. His comeback was rushed due to the T20 World Cup for which BCCI is paying a heavy price now.
He will be in London next month for a better treatment. If he undergoes a surgery, he will be missing the game for the next six months.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed about Jasprit Bumrah’s injury.
In his injury, India will be relying on Bhuveneshwar Kumar. Mohammad Shami on the other hand is still recovering from COVID-19. Harshal Patel is struggling with his rib injury. Umesh Yadav is another option but he is yet to make a comeback from injury.
