Jana Nayagan Box Office: Vijay’s Swansong Crosses Rs 223 Crore, But The Slide Continues

Thalapathy Vijay’s final theatrical outing is proving to be a slow burn at the ticket window. “Jana Nayagan” added just Rs 7.25 crore in its third weekend, a steep 73% drop from weekend two, pushing its 17-day total to Rs 223.75 crore in India.

It’s still a solid number for a film that faced leaks and heavy piracy before release — but the momentum is clearly fading.

Jana Nayagan: The Numbers So Far

Tamil Nadu remains the film’s biggest driver, contributing Rs 143.75 crore and closing in on the Rs 150 crore mark. Karnataka added Rs 28.75 crore, Kerala brought in Rs 16.25 crore, and the rest of India chipped in around Rs 22 crore. The Telugu markets, however, stayed cold, managing only Rs 13 crore.

What’s Next For Vijay’s Political Drama

Directed by H. Vinoth, the political action drama is expected to add another Rs 5-10 crore before wrapping its run near the Rs 240 crore gross mark in India. Its global tally is tracking toward closing under Rs 350 crore.

The real test comes this week, though — “Jana Nayagan” now goes head-to-head with Suriya’s much-anticipated “Vishwanath & Sons,” a clash that’s likely to eat further into its remaining screens and footfalls.

Why This Number Still Matters

Despite the piracy setback and a noticeably cooling word-of-mouth, Jana Nayagan crossing Rs 220 crore domestically is no small feat — especially as Vijay’s farewell film. It reflects genuine star-power pull even when buzz fades fast. For more real-time entertainment and box office trend coverage, check out TechnoSports, your go-to for sports and pop culture updates.
