Just when critics said piracy and leaks would sink it, Thalapathy Vijay‘s Jana Nayagan is proving them wrong. The film posted a strong second-weekend hold and is now knocking on the door of the Rs 300 crore worldwide club — a big deal for a movie that faced a rocky release.

Jana Nayagan: Second Weekend Numbers That Matter

Jana Nayagan added Rs 27.25 crore over its second weekend, with Sunday alone bringing in around Rs 12.75 crore. That’s a healthy hold for a 10-day-old film, especially given the leaks and average word-of-mouth it had to fight through.

Particulars	Box Office
Week 1	Rs 178.75 crore
Day 8	Rs 4.50 crore
Day 9	Rs 10.00 crore
Day 10	Rs 12.75 crore
India Total	Rs 206 crore
Overseas	Rs 91 crore
Worldwide	Rs 297 crore

Where The Money Is Coming From

Tamil Nadu remains the film’s biggest driver, contributing roughly Rs 127.75 crore so far — and it’s projected to touch Rs 140 crore by the end of its run. Karnataka has added Rs 27.50 crore, the Telugu states Rs 13 crore, Kerala Rs 15.75 crore, and North India nearly Rs 22 crore.

Area	Box Office
Tamil Nadu	Rs 127.75 crore
Karnataka	Rs 27.50 crore
Andhra/Telangana	Rs 13.00 crore
Kerala	Rs 15.75 crore
North India	Rs 22.00 crore
India Total	Rs 206.00 crore

Why This Hold Is Impressive

Jana Nayagan wasn’t handed an easy release — it dealt with delays, leaks, and heavy piracy before hitting screens, plus a fairly average critical response. That the film is still tracking toward a projected Rs 335 crore-plus lifetime worldwide total says a lot about star power carrying a film through turbulence that would sink most other releases.
