Jamshedpur FC started its Grassroots Football Schools initiative today with Jamshedpur Public School (JPS) at Tinplate Sports Complex in Golmuri, Jamshedpur.

The start of the Football Schools initiative with JPS was met with a phenomenal response, with as many as 56 students formally registering themselves and over 150 students expected to be added as the program kicks into higher gear in the coming days and weeks.

“We are excited to start a collaboration with Jamshedpur Public School for our Grassroots Football Schools initiative as it will allow the children to achieve overall development and growth with the help of Jamshedpur FC coaches,” Jamshedpur FC Head of Grassroots, Mr Kundan Chandra said.

“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude towards JPS and its staff for giving us the opportunity to work with the kids, and a special thank you to the parents for putting their faith in us to help these players improve.”

The collaboration with JPS comes after Jamshedpur FC restarted the Grassroots Football Schools initiative after a three-year hiatus and began the latest program at Carmel Junior College and Loyola School in the city of Jamshedpur.

The children involved with the Football Schools program have been placed in four categories depending on their ages, namely Under 7, Under 9, Under 11 and Under 13. A number of coaches have been assigned specifically for this program, namely Sarabjeet Sagar Mukhi, Indro Kumar Hembrom, Yadav Choudhary, Rohit Singh, Priya Tiwary and Lakkhi Kumar Ghogra.

The program will be held three days a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Tinplate Sports Complex.

The players will also get an opportunity to showcase the skills learned at the Football Schools training centres at the Jamshedpur Golden Baby League 2023, which features children from schools across Jamshedpur competing in matches across several age categories every Sunday morning at Archery Ground at the JRD Sports Complex.
