itel Ditches Type-B Forever — Every Feature Phone Now Gets Type-C Charging

In a first for India’s feature phone market, itel has officially retired Type-B charging across its entire lineup, ushering in universal Type-C charging support — even on its most budget-friendly models.

What’s the Big Announcement?

itel, the No.1 Feature Phone Brand in India, has bid farewell to Type-B charging, extending Type-C charging across its entire feature phone portfolio — including the entry-level segment. While the brand already offered Type-C across its smartphones and select feature phones, this move makes it the first in India to bring the universal charging standard to even its lowest-priced feature phones, a benchmark no competitor currently matches.

This isn’t just a spec upgrade — it’s a reliability upgrade for millions of Bharat’s feature phone users who depend on these devices daily for calls, UPI payments, entertainment, and staying connected.

Why It Matters for Bharat

By democratizing Type-C charging, itel is bringing a premium convenience to price-sensitive buyers who’ve long been stuck with slower, less durable Type-B ports. One universal cable means less hassle, fewer charger compatibility issues, and a more dependable everyday experience — a meaningful shift for a segment that often gets overlooked by innovation.

itel also confirmed the upcoming launch of its popular feature phone, Heera, in the entry-level segment — and yes, it comes equipped with Type-C charging too.

The Bigger Picture

This move positions itel as a genuine innovator in a segment often seen as static. By pushing Type-C charging down to its cheapest phones, itel isn’t just chasing a trend — it’s setting a new industry standard that could pressure competitors to follow suit, ultimately benefiting India’s massive feature phone user base.
