Italian, German, French and Spanish clubs’ stance on the European Super League

The plans for the European Super League have seemingly collapsed, but the official stance is that the project is simply ‘suspended’. Speaking on the two crazy days, Fabrizio Romano clarified the current situation and the stances of the different clubs.

Serie A clubs’ stance

Juventus’ Andrea Agnelli was speaking to La Republica and said he won’t resign from his post. They own Juventus and it is different for him than Florentino Perez, who is the president and not the owner of Real Madrid. They are leaving the project because it has no future.

Inter too, are no longer interested in the super League project and will be out even if it is reshaped. People in the club are very happy because they are so close to the fans.

AC Milan also said they understand the feeling of the fans and that they’ll leave now because they understand that the project is not going on.

Paris Saint-Germain and German clubs

PSG and Bayern went against the tournament from the get-go. Nasser Al-Khelaifi going against it was politics and not football. The QSI have strong relations with UEFA and FIFA and he didn’t want to sabotage that, which is one of the main reasons why PSG didn’t come close to the revolution.

Germans feel about football in a different way and they clearly said no. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig all have the 50+1 rule applied to them and share extremely close relationships with the fans, which only justifies their refusal to be involved in the tournament.

Spanish clubs

Atletico Madrid are not convinced of the project and they are close to the fans. Hence, they have opted out of the project. At the moment it is a Clasico since nothing is left of it. Barcelona and Real Madrid are still waiting to release statements.
