In Social media sites, a new image is now circulating globally it seems to be a picture of Tom Cruise as Tony Stark and that it is to be from the set of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which has left the MCU fans divided. The picture is blurry and of low resolution but still many started to believe that it seems to be Tom Cruise in motion capture and it seems he is portraying the role of an alternate reality version of Tony Stark.
The person who has been found in the picture looks alike like Tom Cruise and it also sports the same beard that is consistent with the look of Tony Stark in both comics and films. But everything that we are saying is all about mere wild guesses after seeing the picture, it can be fake too, a creation from scratch.
Although everyone is not convinced after seeing this picture. One of the users wrote, “It doesn’t match the suits they wore on set. Also, the lighting on his face doesn’t match his body.”
Another user said that they do not want to see anybody else in the suit of Iron Man, not even Tom Cruise. The tweet reads, “I know I’m late to the panic but don’t you ever show us tom cruise playing iron man I’d rather not see Tony Stark ever again”.
The picture may also be indeed bogus, in the recent past, we have also seen even blurry-looking leaked pictures purporting to be from the movie may end up revealing the truth.
The Multiverse of Madness starring Benedict Cumberbatch deals with the Multiverse as the title suggests and at the least, it includes a darker, more evil version of Doctor Strange, Strange Supreme, similar to the one we have seen in the MCU animated series named What If…?.
So, technically it seems that there will be another Tony Stark. The recently released MCU film named Spider-Man: No Way Home also had two other Spideys (played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) crossing over to MCU. And interestingly, Earlier Cruise was approached to essay Tony Stark before Robert Downey Jr. But he passed the opportunity he didn’t think ‘it would work’.
In 2005, he told to IGN, “It’s not happening. Not with me, no … They came to me at a certain point and, when I do something, I wanna do it right. If I commit to something, it has to be done in a way that I know it’s gonna be something special. And as it was lining up, it just didn’t feel to me like it was gonna work. I need to be able to make decisions and make the film as great as it can be, and it just didn’t go down that road that way.”
If what we have seen in the blurry-leaked picture seems to be true that the role of Tony Stark will be played by Tom Cruise even for a cameo then it would be a great wink to that casting that did not happen. The artists among Marvel fans have often used their imagination to put on paper how Cruise would have looked in the role. Although in the parallel universe Cruise did not become Iron Man, the Mission: Impossible franchise is likely languishing and ended after 2 or 3 films.
