The iQOO 12 series is set for a global launch on November 7 and will comprise both the base iQOO 12 and the iQOO 12 Pro models. While the company has already confirmed certain crucial details about these forthcoming smartphones, such as the processor and rear panel design, some aspects, including camera specifications, have been teased.
Leaked information about other specifications has circulated widely in recent weeks. Furthermore, the India release date for the iQOO 12 5G has been officially confirmed.
More about the Upcoming iQOO 12 Series
iQOO India’s CEO, Nipun Marya, took to X to announce that the iQOO 12 5G will be introduced in India on December 12. The base model of the iQOO 12 will succeed the iQOO 11, which was unveiled in December 2022. However, the company has not yet provided any information regarding the release of the Pro model from the upcoming iQOO 12 series in India.
The entire iQOO 12 series boasts a “Pro-level” camera setup, featuring a 1/1.3-inch primary camera for capturing images in low light conditions, a wide-angle 50MP JN1 sensor with high pixel count (and support for autofocus), and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with a 70mm focal length, utilizing an OV64B sensor that enables 3x optical zoom and an impressive 100x digital zoom.
It has also been revealed that the iQOO 12 series will incorporate Vivo’s NICE algorithm, enhancing clarity across various focal lengths. Debugging efforts will focus on optimizing resources for this feature. Additionally, the new phones will introduce a handheld starry sky mode for capturing extraordinary scenes.
Moreover, vivo has assembled an imaging team of nearly 200 individuals dedicated to conducting independent research, development, and fine-tuning for iQOO imaging. This effort was meticulously planned 18 months in advance and took 9 months to develop and refine. A substantial investment, nearly 1,000 yuan, was made solely for opening the lens module mold, achieving three significant breakthroughs in imaging: versatile focal lengths, pristine image quality, and precise color tones.
According to earlier reports, the iQOO 12 series will feature OriginOS 4 for the first time, along with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, full-blooded LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and the debut of the self-developed e-sports chip Q1. The phones will also include a full-time four-zone cooling architecture with a 6K super-large VC vapor chamber. The entire series will incorporate the “largest ultra-wide vibration motor in iQOO history,” designed to cater to popular games with symmetrical three-dimensional dual speakers.
