Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have started making shifts in the trade window since the franchise has now signed Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals in all cash. Earlier the franchise signed Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

The Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise in IPL bagged the bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur just a day before the deadline closes. Thakur is a part of India’s ODI squad against New Zealand. He played for Delhi for a single season but couldn’t provide a good impact. He was bought by the team with a huge amount of Rs. 10.74 Crore.

IPL 2023: KKR trades Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals had put Shardul Thakur for trade with his former teams like CSK and Punjab Kings. It was Kolkata Knight Riders that bought him after signing Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the title in 2012 and 1014 under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy. In 2021 the team lost to Chennai Super Kings in finale. Pat Cummins and Sam Billings have opted out for IPL 2023. In 2021, Shardul thakur was the leading wicket taker for CSK.

Delhi Capitals bought Shardul Thakur for only one reason. IPL was played in Mumbai which was his hometown and he represents the city in domestic cricket. Since IPL 2023 will have the home-and-away format, they released Shardul Thakur. Thakur in the earlier season could pick only three wickets in 20 overs and leaked 209 runs atan economy rate of 10.95 in Mumbai. At Eden Gardens, he played two matches and had a good record as well. He scalped two wickets in seven overs and gave away 39 runs at an economy rate of 5.57.

He finished the IPL 2022 season with 15 wickets in 14 games in the last season at an economy of 9.79. It was his worst performance since 2017. He finished with 120 runs at a strike rate of almost 138.
