Reports suggest that Ravindra Jadeja is going to stay with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2023. It’s said that the former skipper of the franchise MS Dhoni has intervened to make Ravindra Jadeja stay. He made it clear that Ravindra Jadeja cannot be released in the IPL 2023 auction.
He also made clear to the team management that Ravindra Jadeja should be retained anyhow. He believes that Jadeja has had a great influence in the team and no other player can take it away from him. In 2023, CSK will be playing on their home ground and Jadeja is suited well to the conditions.
The management has approached Ravindra Jadeja on Dhoni’s instance.
The salary cap for IPL 2023 has increased by 5 Crores, from 90 Crores to 95 Crores. In the mini-auction, the franchises can bid for the players with the balance amount left in the last mega auction and they will be getting a certain amount after releasing the players.
Ravindra Jadeja joined the franchise in 2012 but his relationship with the team management soured in IPL 2022.
CSK had their worst performance in this season losing six games out of eight under his captaincy. His performance as an all-rounder dipped as well. He could score only 111 runs and scalp three wickets in these games. MS Dhoni remained as the skipper in the mid-way of IPL 2022.
After he was sacked as a skipper, Jadeja was ruled out in the last few games that CSK played due to a rib injury.
From social media, Jadeja deleted all of CSK’s posts, and the video that the franchise posted on their official handle on DHoni’s birthday featured everyone but not him. It sparked the tension going on between them.
BCCI hosted the IPL 2022 mega-auction in February this year, As per reports, BCCI will be hosting the auction for IPl 2023 on December 16. However, the official date will be decided post the board’s AGM on Tuesday.
