IPL 2022: CVC owned Ahmedabad franchise finally gets the green signal

 Christmas has arrived earlier this year for IPL fans as CVC owned Ahmedabad franchise finally got green signal from BCCI as told by an insider. The board will clear the way for the franchise within the next 48 hours.

A lot of eyebrows were raised by people at CVC for their alleged investments in the betting companies. BCCI had appointed a 3 member committee to investigate into this matter. The appointed committee has finally cleared the way for CVC Capital Ahmedabad franchise.

The delay in this decision making in regards to the Ahmedabad franchise has made BCCI delay a lot of datelines on auctions and IPL Media rights tender. The two new franchises namely the Lucknow franchise and Ahmedabad franchise addition were announced on 25 October. BCCI has also given some significant datelines regarding the future of IPL 2022.

Important dates

  • IPL 2022 Retention Nov 30th:  All the existing franchises will be finalizing their retentions before Nover 30th. It was accepted by the existing franchises.
  • December 25th – The two new existing franchises will be signing their top three picks for IPL 2022 just before the Mega Auction. Now the dateline has been pushed to 15 January or post this date.
  • Rights Auction: BCCI said that the IPL Media Right Auctions will be completed by January 2022 but now, they will be completed by February. 
  • Mega Auction  The Mega Auction was supposed to take place in january but now it has been pushed to February. .

A BCCI official said “We can’t do anything about it. Yes all of these things will now be pushed by few weeks. Good part if that Ahmedabad franchise issue is out of the way”

The Lucknow IPL team promoters have finalised Andy Flower as Coach of the team & Gautam Gambhir as mentor of the team. Vijay Dhaiya is the team’s Assistant coach.

As per a BCCI official, the board is planning to hold the Mega Auctions Of IPL On February 7 and 8. This maybe the last mega auction as the owners of all the existing franchises are against it.
