MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings will be keeping these four players in IPL 2022. The players are MS DHONI (skipper), Ravindra Jadeja (all-rounder), Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis.
Less than two weeks are left for announcing the players who will be kept in every franchise. MS Dhoni is a major player CSK is considering to retain. By November 30 the team must disclose their retention list and this team must continue giving a spectacular performance in the next season as well.
The retention policy
- 4 players could be retained in each team
- 3 players at maximum could be retained.
- A franchise can choose two foreigners.
- There are four slabs in retention.
- The highest value is of Rs. 16 crore, followed by Rs 12 crore, Rs 8 crore and 6 crore.
Lets look at the players CSK is most likely to retain
MS Dhoni (slab 1)– Dhoni’s value to the team and the yellow army is a lot. He is likely to be retained in the team’s highest category retention of 16 crores. Under his captaincy, CSK has won the IPL trophy four times.
Ravindra Jadeja (Slab 2): The team is likely to go for Ravindra Jadeja, who is an all-rounder. He’s also a very vital player in CSK’s team. His contribution as a batter, bowler and fielder makes him a valuable player. Most likely he is to be retained for Rs 12 crore. In 2021 his paycheck was 7 crore from the franchise.
Faf du Plessis (Slab 3, Rs 8 Cr): He’s the overseas player the franchise is likely to retain. The South African player will get 8 crores. He was the 2nd in the list of highest run-scorers in 2021. He made 633 runs in 16 matches in IPL 2021.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (Slab 4, Rs 6 crore): Ruturaj Gaikwad bagged the orange cup and made 635 runs in 16 matches for CSK in the year 2021. He has the potential to be the future captain of CSK. The opener is going to get an amount of 6 crores.
If CSK retain these four players, the management will be left with 48 crores out of 90. With 48 crores left in the purse, CSK can bid in IPL mega auction. This will happen after two IPL teams retain 3 players.
