South African cricketer AB De Villiers took retirement from his cricket career last year which meant the RCB fans will no longer be able to see him play in the tournament. However, it’s on air that AB De Villiers is going to return as a mentor to RCB in IPL 2022. The official confirmation awaits on March 12 when the franchise will also announce their new skipper.
AB de Villiers announced his retirement prior to the IPL 2022 auction after having a spectacular IPL career. As per reports RCB’s former skipper, Virat Kohli stepped down from the captaincy role and requested the franchise to bring AB back as a coach. The South African cricketer has been associated with the franchise as a player since IPL 2011.
RCB will name Faf du Plessis as their new skipper for IPL 2022 on March 12 at 4 pm. Many believed Glenn Maxwell is going to be the replacement but RCB will be going with Faf Du Plessis instead.
