IPL 2020

Cricket lovers in India and around the world are already eagerly looking forward to the 2020 IPL. Scheduled to begin on 29th March 2020, fans will be hoping for another exciting season with plenty of runs and wickets. Of course, another gripping final like the 2019 match between Mumbai Indians and CSK would also be welcome!

March 2020 still seems a way off for cricket fans but the good news is that there is always a game going on somewhere around the world before then. Heading online to check out what cricket matches today offers is a great way to find out more and satisfy your craving for the game. The other thing you could do is to look ahead to which teams stand a good chance of winning the IPL when it does start.

But who should you keep an eye on in this year’s IPL?

Mumbai Indians

The sensible place to start is with the team who won it last season that has also won it on three occasions before that. When you look at their line-up for 2020 now that the auctions have taken place, they appear to be a strong team once again. Led by the supremely talented Rohit Sharma, there are other top-class players also like Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga and Quinton de Kock to call upon. The only downside is that they tend to see a dip in performance in the year after taking the crown – can they beat that effect in 2020?

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Another team that has done well in the IPL in recent times are the Sunrisers. They won the trophy in 2016 and finished second in 2018 so they have the pedigree to mount a challenge in 2020. They will need to brush up on how they approach the Eliminator games though as this was their undoing in 2019. When you look at their 2020 squad, there seems to be a good mix of talent in there for the team to have a great year. As well as existing players like David Warner and Johnny Bairstow, new blood such as Virat Singh and Mitchell Marsh could really make their mark.

CSK

Last season’s runners-up (by 1 run!) surely must be in with a shout again this year. The stats certainly back this up as they have never finished below 3rd in the IPL’s history. That has included not only three titles but also multiple runners up spots. They were in great form last year and dominated on their way to a very slight loss in the final. That narrow defeat should give them plenty of motivation to go one better in 2020. With Sam Curran and Piyush Chawla joining them this time around, they could be a tough side to beat.

2020 Indian Premier League is set to shine

With March just a few weeks away, the 2020 edition of the IPL is already shaping up to be something special. With eight teams battling it out for the crown, the above sides seem the most likely to win out in the end.
