IPL 2020: The best bowlers of each IPL team

(PC- Cricket Country)

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 is only a week away. After the tournament was postponed, after many hindrances and altercations, the IPL will begin on September 19 in UAE.

The fact that the tournament is in UAE, will bring an interesting element to every aspect of the game. The pitches will assist a particular style of spin bowlers. However, most of the time under sub-continental conditions one thing remains constant, a free flow of runs! Therefore, the bowlers will have to be on top of their game.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Who Has More Titles?

Today we will name some of the best bowlers of each team in IPL 2020. They will be judged more on the wicket-taking side rather than the economy as the best way to restrict runs by taking wickets! They will also be evaluated according to the condition in UAE where spinners who vary pace tend to get some assistance of the pitch. Also, as commentator Akash Chopra says the ‘L’ in IPL stands for leg-spinners, so you may find them flooding the list.

Mumbai Indians

JASPRIT BUMRAH – Jasprit Bumrah is hands down one of the best bowlers in the world, irrespective of the format. He will lead the diverse Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack. Bumrah is known for his skill of bowling both yorkers and slower deliveries at will.

MITCHELL McCLENAGHAN – McClenaghan will be a key asset for MI in the absence of Lasith Malinga. Though the economy has been an issue for the New Zealander, he has been a man with the golden arm. Being associated with MI for a while, he will probably get preference over Nathan Coulter-Nile, Trent Boult, and James Pattinson.

RAHUL CHAHAR – Chahar has been an extremely underrated leg-spinner. He has been a key asset for MI in their win last year.

KRUNAL PANDYA – Pandya will be effective on UAE pitches due to his ability in varying his pace. He can turn the bowl but also throw an odd bowl extremely fast which may break the batsman’s rhythm. He will have to keep his economy in check and assist Chahar.

Chennai Super Kings

DEEPAK CHAHAR – Deepak Chahar has been extremely valuable for CSK. He may lack raw pace, but bowls consistently in the right areas. He has also picked up crucial wickets in the powerplay overs.

IMRAN TAHIR – Imran Tahir will lead the CSK spin-bowling attack. He has been a phenomenal T20 spinner and will get some assistance from the UAE pitches. Tahir’s googly is extremely difficult to read as well.

(PC- Scroll.in)

PIYUSH CHAWLA – Chawla has been a staple face in IPL over the years. This year he will have the difficult job of filling the boots of Harbhajan Singh. Chawla can also bat and will have to assist Tahir.

RAVINDRA JADEJA – Jadeja is known for his speedy deliveries. He will be extremely useful on UAE pitches. He can also bowl effectively in the powerplay overs as Tahir and Chawla will need a relatively older ball to work with.

Kolkata Knight Riders

SUNIL NARINE – Narine has changed his action and has also been varying his pace, thus adding new tools to his arsenal. Also, not to forget, he can open the innings as well.

KULDEEP YADAV – The Knight Riders may not have their spin-friendly home ground of the Eden Gardens, but that won’t affect chinaman Kuldeep Yadav. The mystery bowler can be lethal anywhere in the world with his ability to turn the ball both ways.

PAT CUMMINS – Cummins has evolved into a world-class bowler. He will have to lead the young and unexperienced KKR pace-bowling lineup of Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, and Prasidh Krishna.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR – Kumar will lead probably the strongest bowling lineup of the entire IPL. He can swing the bowl in both ways during the powerplay overs and also bowl perfect yorkers during the death overs.

RASHID KHAN – Rashid Khan is probably one of the best T20 spinners in the world. He is known for his speedy deliveries that can tun both ways. He will be even more dangerous on UAE pitches.

SIDDHARTH KAUL – Kaul has been criminally underrated in his tenure with the SRH. The 30-year old medium pacer from Punjab can consistently bowl in the right areas and can change in pace. He will have to work with other options like Basil Thampi and veteran Sandeep Sharma.

Rajasthan Royals

JOFRA ARCHER – Archer has taken big leaps in international cricket. He will have to literally carry the Royals’ bowling lineup. Archer’s pace and extra bounce will be something to keep an eye on.

(PC- CricTracker)

SHREYAS GOPAL – Gopal happens to be another underrated leg-spinner who has been getting the job done for RR consistently. He has improved his batting tremendously as well.

JAYDEV UNADKAT – Unadkat has established his image as an Indian T20 specialist. He bowls from various angles and changes his pace really deceivingly. He will have to justify the trust the franchise shows in him.

Delhi Capitals

KAGISO RABADA – Rabada has shown fantastic potential. He will lead the Capitals’ bowling lineup and set the foundation for probably the varied spin-bowling attack in the IPL.

RAVICHANDRAN ASHWIN – Ashwin will lead the highly capable DC spin-bowling lineup. Ashwin relies mostly on conventional off-spinners, however, his carrom ball can act as a surprise element and will be very effective in UAE.

AMIT MISHRA – Don’t let the old horse fool you. Mishra has been one of the most successful bowlers in the history of the IPL. He has a very lethal googly as well.

SANDEEP LAMICHHANE – Lamichhane is still a mystery to the entire world. The Nepal sensation is another mystery spinner and can be extremely effective in UAE conditions under the seniority of Ashwin and Mishra.

AXAR PATEL – Patel started off really strong, making his way in the Indian team in all three formats. However, couldn’t make a comeback. He will be useful in UAE conditions due to his speedy deliveries. He can bat as well.

Kings XI Punjab

MOHAMMED SHAMI – Shami has tremendously grown since the 2019 Cricket WC. He can get reverse swing from any dead pitch, he’ll try to do the same in UAE.

MUJEEB UR RAHMAN – The Afghani mystery spinner has improved a lot working with Rashid Khan and playing tournaments like BBL all over the world.

RAVI BISHNOI – The entire nation wants to see Bishnoi bowl against the best. He was the highest leading wicket-taker in U-19 WC. He will bring the X-factor especially under the watchful eyes of coach Anil Kumble.

CHRIS JORDAN – Jordan is a T20 specialist who has been great in all three departments.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

UMESH YADAV – Yadav has improved a lot as per T20 bowling is concerned. He has been lethal in earlier overs, however, he will have to keep it tight in the death overs.

YUZVENDRA CHAHAL – Chahal has been a phenomenal limited-over bowler over the years. He will be extremely dangerous on UAE pitches.

NAVDEEP SAINI – Saini has been a find for RCB. He can bowl 145 kmph+ yorkers and bouncers at will. He takes complete responsibility for the death overs.
