After a disappointing loss for both the KKR and SRH in their opening games, KKR learned from the mistakes and made a strong and clinical comeback against the orange army. After a tight bowling performance from the seven bowlers of KKR, the team succeeded to enclose the SRH inning under 150. SRH had managed to score 142 in its 20 overs.

At the second inning, Kolkata Knight Riders opening batsman Shubman Gill once again showed his class and maturity throughout his inning and helped KKR to put their very first victory in this season of IPL.

Gill scored an unbeaten 70 in 62 deliveries which included 5 fours and 2 sixes. World cup winning Englishman Eoin Morgan also supported Gill very well and played a slightly aggressive inning. He also remained unbeaten on 42 in just 29 deliveries. Apart from them, aggressive left-hander batsman Nitish Rana also played a strong cameo (26 runs in 13 balls) and helped his team to get a good start.

But at the end, all the eyes were on that young 21-year-old cricketer who remained on the crease till the very last ball of the game thus making sure that his team crosses the finishing line without any difficulties. It was more of a mature and sensible inning rather than an aggressive on. He studied the situation very well after KKR lost early wickets during their chase. For this unbelievable knock, Gill was also presented with the ‘Man of the Match’ award.

The former legendary batsman from England Kevin Peterson was very overwhelmed for this young gun of KKR and lauded the youngster for his calm and composed inning and said that ‘he should be the captain of KKR’. In this current age, he has a lot of maturity that the other doesn’t have. So, KP is pretty sure if he is brushed well, then he will definitely be the star of Indian cricket.
