Mumbai Indians decimated Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Mumbai Indians clinched their fifth IPL trophy overall and second trophy in a row to extend their own record of most number of IPL wins.

They were extremely dominant since the beginning of the tournament. Even impressively they carried out that momentum throughout the tournament without losing steam.

How did the exciting final go about?

After winning the toss, the Capitals elected to bat first. MI made a surprising change of bringing in Jayant Yadav instead of Rahul Chahar. DC had the X-factor of Stoinis opening the inning with in-form Shikhar Dhawan.

However, Trent Boult did what he has been doing throughout the tournament. He sent Stoinis back on the very first ball of the game. Boult took another early wicket and Jayant Yadav bowled the dangerous Shikhar Dhawan as DC was reduced to 22-3.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant put up a formidable fight as they scored 65 and 56 respectively. However, they were unable to get a finish as they finished with 156 runs on the board. Boult finished with 3 wickets. Jayant Yadav and Nathan Coulter-Nile took 1 and 2 valuable wickets respectively.

156 were still considered to be decent keeping in mind the bowling attack of DC. However, that didn’t seem to bother the power-packed MI batting lineup as they were positive right off the back. De Kock and Suryakumar Yadav scored brisk 20 and 19 runs respectively. However, just like DC, the star of the show was skipper Rohit Sharma who ended his rough patch with a phenomenal 68 off just 51 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Ishan Kishan continued with his dream tournament as he scored 33 off just 19 runs to take the side through.
