ICC has officially postponed the Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 which was scheduled to be held in Australia due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

This is good news for all the IPL fans as BCCI can now move forward with their plan of hosting the 13th edition of IPL in the September-November window. It will most likely be held in the UAE if the Indian government gives permission.

Brijesh Patel told PTI: “The IPL GC will meet within a week or 10 days and all decisions (including the final schedule) will be taken there. As of now, the plan is to have a full-fledged IPL comprising 60 games and most likely in the UAE.”

When asked about the main challenge in conducting the event in the current scenario, Patel said: “Just the operational side of it. Whether you do it here or outside, it doesn’t matter (with no crowds).”

BCCI is also looking for a weeks training camp in UAE for the Indian players as the players don’t have any practice since March.

One of the IPL team owners told PTI: “Our players will need at least three to four weeks of training, if not more. We will finalise all our plans once the BCCI announces the dates. It looks like the IPL will be in the UAE and we are ready for that,”

There is also a possibility that the IPL commentators will be doing their jobs from the comfort of their living rooms. Most of the sporting events across the world held after the Coronavirus pandemic has opted for this type of commentary, so IPL will also be following the same path.

So get ready to witness one of the most exciting T20 league in full-fledge most probably from 26th September to 8th November in UAE.

And after that comes the final piece of BCCI’s big plan. Once the IPL is completed, selected Indian players will travel directly to Australia from UAE to play against Australia.
