iPhone 16 Pro/Ultra: All Rumors You Should Know
Apple appears to be working on the iPhone 16 series, even though it seems far off. The reason for this is that there have been several significant updates revealed by sources regarding the 2024 phone.
With the release of the iPhone 15 series still relatively recent, it’s difficult to predict what will be new for the iPhone 16 Pro/Ultra. It appears, however, that we may anticipate additional design adjustments, camera enhancements, and possibly the release of an entirely new kind of iPhone in the upcoming year.
iPhone 16 Pro/Ultra rumored specifications
A new design for the iPhone 16 Pro/Ultra is allegedly in the works, and it has even surfaced in a prototype of the iPhone 16 Pro. This design replaces the Dynamic Island on newer models and the notch on previous iPhones with an under-display Face ID that has a single cutout for the selfie camera.
Although we would have to question how well the infrared projector and sensor will function with an additional layer of screen in the way, it would drastically alter the appearance of the iPhone.
With the iPhone 16 Pro/Ultra, there might be some size adjustments. There are rumors that the upcoming year will bring bigger Pro models, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max reportedly measuring 6.9 inches and the iPhone 16 Pro measuring 6.3 inches. The size difference between the Pro Max model and the iPhone 15 Pro Max is also displayed in CAD drawings.
Assuming Apple continues with its present workflow, the A17 chip found in the iPhone 15 Pro models will be ported to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus (albeit the A17 chip that powers the iPhone 16 won’t be the same as the A17 Pro). More optimistic rumors indicate that all iPhone 16 models will be powered by 3-nanometer A18 CPUs, with more potent A18 variants expected for the Pro models.
The iPhone 16 Pro/Ultra versions of the iPhone may have a bigger sensor than the normal models, giving them a significant edge in photography even though both models may have the same 48MP primary resolution.
One source suggests that the 48MP primary camera may receive a resize. They state that the new sensor will have a measurement of 1/1.14 inches (0.87 inches) as opposed to the present 1/1.28 inches (0.78 inches). Ideally, brighter and more colorful images will result from a bigger sensor.
The Apple iPhone Pro models’ ultrawide cameras could have a second 48MP sensor added to provide the same advantages—possibly even enabling full 48MP ProRes pictures at the widest 0.5x magnification level—for their ultrawide cameras. Reiterating this rumor, Jeff Pu pointed out that the non-Pro versions might still be limited to a 12MP ultrawide camera.
