The upcoming iPhone 15 models, set to launch later this year, will come with significant improvements compared to the iPhone 14. All four models, including the standard and ‘Pro’ versions, are expected to feature a Dynamic Island display. However, Apple is planning to take the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max a step further to position them as higher-end models.

The leaks about iPhone 15 Pro Models

Earlier reports indicated that the iPhone 15 Pro would have a titanium finish, which will be an upgrade from the stainless steel used in the iPhone 14 Pro. The latest information from a leaker on Twitter suggests that the iPhone 15 Pro models will indeed utilize Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6AI-4V), which offers several advantages over stainless steel.

The use of Grade 5 titanium on the iPhone 15 Pro will result in superior build quality and durability. This material is significantly stronger than stainless steel, making the device more resistant to falls and damage. It also exhibits better corrosion resistance, contributing to the longevity of the device. Additionally, Grade 5 titanium is lighter than stainless steel, which will contribute to a more lightweight design compared to the iPhone 14 Pro models.

However, there are certain drawbacks that need to be taken into account. Grade 5 titanium is more expensive than stainless steel, and this higher cost is likely to be reflected in the price of the iPhone 15 Pro models, which are already expected to have a higher price tag. Moreover, Grade 5 titanium is not as widely available as stainless steel, potentially leading to shortages in the long run.

As a result of the premium design and enhancements, the iPhone 15 Pro models are anticipated to see a price increase of $100 to $200 compared to their predecessors. Apple is expected to announce the new models later this year alongside the Apple Watch Series 9. It has been reported that the iPhone 15 Pro models may face “severe shortages,” with the titanium finish possibly contributing to this situation.
