iPhone 13 dummy models shows smaller notch, revised cameras

We have come across a number of iPhone 13 leaks, time and again. This further raises the urge to finally see how the new iPhones will be like, which are expected to launch in a few months. Before this happens, we are bound to see more leaks and here’s a new one.

This time the leak takes the form of photos of dummy units – that is, non-working handsets that are designed to look like the real phone. These units – which exactly match up with previous leaks – were originally shared on Weibo (a Chinese social network) and were spotted by leaker DuanRui and posted on Twitter.

As per leaked images of the iPhone 13 dummy units, the rear camera placement is likely to change. The images show two cameras arranged diagonally. This is different from the ‘one above the other’ dual rear camera placement on the iPhone 12. The camera housings could also be a bit bigger in size.

The iPhone 13 display will get a couple of important updates as well. From a design perspective, the notch will be smaller this year. It’ll be slightly narrower than before. When it comes to functionality, the iPhone 13 Pro versions will supposedly feature 120Hz ProMotion displays.

This is most likely to be applicable on the iPhone 13 and the 13 Mini. The iPhone 13 Pro and the 13 Pro Max are expected to come with three rear cameras that will be placed in a similar fashion as their predecessors.

Finally, the camera modules will all get noticeable design updates. The cameras will protrude more than before and the overall size of the camera module will be much bigger. Also, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will have the rear cameras placed diagonally rather than vertically. The rumored design change doesn’t have an explanation for now, but some speculate that the primary camera will get sensor-shift stabilization on all iPhone 13 versions. The new camera design is due to a larger senor that needs more space.

However, there’s no word why Apple would choose to change the camera layout of the iPhone 13. This could possibly be to differentiate it from the Pro models.

Apple is most likely to launch the iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, and the 13 Pro Max with a number of improvements. The phones are likely to get a small notch, new colour options, A15 Bionic chip, and iOS 15. Expect bigger batteries, the return of the Touch ID (along with Face ID), and more.
